X Japan begins their Japan tour in Ishinomaki, honoring Yoshiki’s promise back in September 2013 to return to the city and perform a charity concert. Only 150 tickets are available for this intimate show with proceeds going to Central Community Chest of Japan.

The film We Are X, directed by Stephen Kijak (Stones In Exile, Scott Walker – 30 Century Man, Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of) and produced by John Battsek’s UK-based Passion Pictures, producers of the Oscar-winning One Day in September and Searching For Sugar Man, will make its world premiere in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. We Are X is a feature documentary about X Japan and its singular three decade-long evolution. The premiere marks the first time that a Japanese rock band has been the focus of a film to play in competition at the World Cinema documentary category. The 2016 Sundance Film Festival takes place January 21-31 in Park City, Utah.

X Japan kicked off the first show of their World Tour in a small club called Blue Resistance in Ishinomaki, Miyagi-Prefecture in Japan on November 28th. Ishinomaki was among the most seriously affected areas by the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami. Yoshiki visited Ishinomaki after the Tsunami disaster along with Blue Resistance in September of 2012, and made a promise then to start his first show ofX Japan’s upcoming world tour in the same venue. Only 150 tickets were available for the show, 75 were given to residents of Miyagi-Prefecture, and 75 were auctioned off at Yahoo Japan’s auction, resulting in JPY28,289,358 – roughly $230,000 in total sales...

Due to completely unforeseen circumstances, X JAPAN have announced that their show at SSE Arena Wembley, scheduled for March 12, 2016, has now been postponed to March 4, 2017. All original tickets sold will be honored at the new 2017 date.
PATA (guitarist) was admitted to the ICU at a hospital in Tokyo on January 15, 2016. He was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition, which included a severe blood clot. He recently came out of the ICU and his condition has thankfully stabilized, however his doctors do not consider him fit to fly until he has made a full recovery.
After much discussion, X JAPAN has announced a suspension of their current performance commitments, which include the Wembley show. Given the unfortunate circumstances, the release of X JAPAN’s new album, scheduled for a March 11, 2016 has also been postponed. Expect a rescheduled worldwide release date for their as-yet-untitled new album to be announced soon.

'We Are X' has been accepted to the SXSW Film Festival happening March 11-19 in Austin, TX. The documentary will be shown as part of SXSW Film Festival’s “24 Beats Per Second” which showcases the sounds, culture and influence of music and musicians with an emphasis on documentary and is open to both music and film badgeholders. ‘WE ARE X’ is the only documentary accepted to both the SXSW and Sundance Film Festivals this year.

Yoshiki Performs David Bowie Tribute and Art of Life
Yoshiki performed at the Classic Rock Awards held at Ryogoku Kokugikan this past Friday, November 11. Yoshiki made history by becoming the first-ever artist to be honored with the “Asian Icon Award.” Based at the venerable Roundhouse venue in London, the Classic Rock Awards are widely recognized by the world’s rock stars as the “annual must-attend event,” bringing together artists from rock’s global Hall of Fame.
The show was held in Japan this year for the first time ever, and with this memorable timing Yoshiki became the first Asian artist to accomplish this great achievement. Rock royalty including Jeff Beck, ELO, Jimmy Page, Joe Perry, Def Leppard, Richie Sambora, Cheap Trick attended the event and gave Yoshiki rave reviews for his performance featuring classical renditions of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and X Japan’s masterpiece “Art Of Life.”
“So many artists in Asia are going overseas and Asian rock is growing worldwide,” Yoshiki said as he accepted the award. “X Japan is proud to be one of them and if there’s a wall between east and west, the wall is getting lower and thinner. I’m going to break this wall. It’s an honor to receive this award. I would like to dedicate this award to the X Japan members especially Hide and Taiji. Thank you very much.”

NEWS: X JAPAN TOUR CONFIRMED!
During a press conference held in Tokyo on June 9th, X Japan members Toshl, Pata, and Heath, along with host Udo Artists, Inc., announced that the “X JAPAN WORLD TOUR 2017 WE ARE X” concerts in Japan at Osaka-jo Hall (July 11 and 12) and Yokohama Arena (July 14, 15, 16, and 17) will be performed as acoustic concerts. The title of the tour will be changed to “X JAPAN WORLD TOUR 2017 WE ARE X Acoustic Special Miracle 6 DAYS.”
Although Yoshiki successfully underwent cervical artificial disk replacement surgery and has already started the rehabilitation process, doctors have instructed him to stay away from vigorous exercise for at least 6 months and he cannot play the drums for the time being. However, since Yoshiki does not want these scheduled concerts to be canceled due to his surgery, X Japan members explained during today’s press conference that these performances will continue as “acoustic” concerts, where Yoshiki will only play the piano.
During the conference, there was also a phone call from Yoshiki, who is currently going through recovery in Los Angeles. After conveying his message of “I want to move forward. I’d love to be given a chance to do the shows,” Yoshiki also revealed that the “EVENING WITH YOSHIKI 2017 IN NAGOYA & OSAKA & TOKYO JAPAN” premium dinner shows this summer will also continue as scheduled.

Yoshiki made a sudden return to Japan on June 20th and held a press conference in Tokyo.
Yoshiki announced that the upcoming X Japan tour would feature a screening of the special, 60- minute edition of the film We Are X which debuted at the Wembley Arena show in March earlier this year. Yoshiki personally disclosed ongoing discussions about whether to include old songs such as “Rose of Pain” and “Unfinished” in the set list as well as the fact that a string section will accompany him on stage.
Physiotherapist Carl Dunstan also arrived in Japan from the UK and will be accompanying the band throughout the tour to ensure that Yoshiki, who is only a few weeks post-surgery, will be able to complete the performances.
Mr. Dunstan belongs to the physiotherapist organization Atherapy, which counts numerous
renowned artists and actors such as U2 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers among its clients, and is himself an accomplished professional who was Daniel Craig's exclusive physiotherapist during production of the 007 film Spectre and has treated many other famous actors and musicians. He was able to accompany the tour thanks to an introduction from Larry Mullen, Jr., the drummer for U2, with whom Yoshiki is acquainted.
Furthermore, it was revealed that the plans for the Yoshiki Premium Dinner Show 2017, which begins August 26th, had designated from its inception that 150,000 dollars (approximately 18 million yen) of the sales would be donated to charity, and that the staging of the show itself was decided upon with these plans in mind.
There were also moments in the press conference where Yoshiki described his experience of going through rehabilitation. "I don't know if I will be able to play the drums again. Even if I am able to do so, it may be impossible to perform with the same intensity as before. I can't even say for sure, at this point, whether I would do so if I could."
"If there were no X Japan reunion, I would not have had surgery twice. But the time put into the reunion and the challenge of taking on the world are worthwhile. I do not regret it. And I will not stop until I break down the wall."
Having overcome that surgery with the support of myriad members and fans, and with the goal of completing the Japan tour serving as a kind of fuel, he has decided to "show the best of myself on stage." No doubt Yoshiki's resolve will be engraved into history by six miraculous nights.
URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT RE: ANIME EXPO
Due to a change in rehearsal schedule for X Japan 's upcoming tour, YOSHIKI regrettably must cancel his planned appearance at this weekend's Anime Expo in L.A. X Japan rehearsals are taking longer due to his recovery from neck surgery. YOSHIKI apologized to Anime Expo as well as his fans on his twitter.
YOSHIKI was expected to make his first post-surgery USA appearance at Anime Expo. As of now , YOSHIKI still plans to travel to Paris, France, for the French theatrical preview of We Are X (July 6) and Japan Expo (July 7), before kicking off X JAPAN World Tour 2017 on July 11 in Japan .
